Care That Starts Before There’s a Problem
The best veterinary care doesn’t begin when something’s wrong — it begins long before, with regular wellness exams that help us catch issues early, when they’re easier (and often less expensive) to treat. At Rialto Animal Hospital, we’ve been guiding Inland Empire families through preventive care since 1959, and we believe a great wellness visit is about more than checking boxes.
It’s about getting to know your pet, listening to your observations, and partnering with you on a care plan that fits their life.
What to Expect at Your Dog or Cat’s Wellness Exam
Every wellness exam is tailored to your pet’s age, lifestyle, and individual health needs. During your visit, our team will:
- Perform a thorough nose-to-tail physical examination
- Review your pet’s medical history and any changes you’ve noticed
- Discuss diet, nutrition, weight, and exercise
- Update vaccines based on your pet’s lifestyle and risk factors
- Recommend parasite prevention (fleas, ticks, heartworm) tailored to your pet
- Talk through dental health and any concerns about behavior, mobility, or aging
- Discuss the benefits of routine wellness bloodwork, which can help detect disease before symptoms appear and establish important health baselines
- Answer your questions — every single one of them
For senior pets and those managing chronic conditions, we often recommend more frequent exams and yearly bloodwork to catch changes early.
Vaccines That Match Your Pet’s Lifestyle
Vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to protect your dog or cat from serious, preventable diseases. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all vaccine schedules — instead, we recommend the right vaccines for your pet’s lifestyle, exposure risk, and overall health.
Common dog vaccines include protection against parvovirus, distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, rabies, and canine influenza.
Common cat vaccines include protection against feline distemper (panleukopenia), upper respiratory viruses, rabies, and feline leukemia (depending on lifestyle). Rialto Animal Hospital and Rialto Cat Hospital proudly use the PUREVAX® feline vaccine line whenever possible because it is adjuvant-free. Unlike traditional vaccines that contain additives linked to inflammation and a rare cancer called Feline Injection-Site Sarcoma (FISS), PUREVAX® uses advanced recombinant technology to provide effective protection with less inflammation, fewer injection-site reactions, and a lower risk of vaccine-associated sarcomas.
If you’re not sure what your pet needs, we’ll walk you through your options and help you decide what makes the most sense.
Preventive Care for the Long Haul
Wellness care isn’t a once-a-year box to check — it’s a long-term partnership. Our team is here to support your pet through every life stage, from playful puppy and kitten visits to thoughtful senior care plans.
Wellness Exam Pricing
Our wellness/annual exams begin at $78. Vaccines, parasite testing, bloodwork, and other services are billed separately based on your pet’s individual needs. We’ll always walk you through recommendations and associated costs before moving forward — no surprises.
