Spay and Neuter Surgery

Spaying and neutering offer well-documented health and behavioral benefits — and they’re one of the most meaningful things you can do for your pet’s long-term well-being.

For female pets, spaying (ovariohysterectomy) eliminates heat cycles, reduces the risk of certain mammary tumors (especially when done early), and prevents potentially deadly uterine infections like pyometra.

For male pets, neutering (orchiectomy) reduces marking and roaming behaviors, lowers the risk of certain prostate issues, and eliminates the risk of testicular cancer.

When to spay or neuter: The right timing depends on your pet’s breed, size, and health. We generally recommend spaying/neutering between 6 and 12 months of age, though larger breed dogs may benefit from waiting a bit longer for orthopedic reasons. Our doctors will help you decide what’s best for your individual pet at their wellness exam.

Soft Tissue Surgery

What is TPLO surgery?

TPLO is a specialized orthopedic procedure used to treat a torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) — the canine equivalent of an ACL injury in people. When this ligament tears, it leads to pain, knee instability, difficulty walking, and progressive arthritis if left untreated.

Rather than attempting to repair the torn ligament, TPLO surgery stabilizes the knee joint by changing the mechanics of how the bone moves — providing a reliable, long-term solution especially for active or medium-to-large breed dogs.
